“Attack" (original artist's title), the episode from WWI by German painter and illustrator Kurt Hassenkamp (Berlin 1886 - 1917 Heidelberg).
The painter, who died young, painted genre scenes with fishermen, coastal views, ships, and military scenes from the First World War in a smooth Impressionist style.
He lived and worked in Berlin, attended art school, and received painting lessons by marine and landscape painter Karl Saltzmann. Between 1911 and 1917, the painter caused a sensation with his work at the Grosze annual exhibition in Berlin and the annual exhibition at the Glaspalast in Munich in 1912.
