Portrait miniature of a young lady with a landscape on background, placed in the red leather case. It was executed in early 19th century by French decoration and miniature painter Joseph Etienne Guis, died 1837. He was the father of theater - and decoration painter Konstantin Guis or Guise (1811 - Basel -1858). J.E.Guis came from France to Cassel/ Germany and worked here in the Royal Theater.
Provenance: private collection in Paris.

Inscription: signed Guis, in the middle right.
Technique: watercolor on organic wafer (in oval), under original glass an in period box.
Measurements: unframed d 3 1/4" (8,2 cm), box 4" x 4"(10 x 10 cm).
