Portrait of young composer Franz Lehar ( 1870 Komorn, Slovakia - 1948 Bad Ischl) was executed in 1908 by good listed Austrian painter Richard Lux (1877 - 1939).

Richard Lux primarily painted landscapes and portraits, and as an etcher created landscapes, vedute, and numerous bookplates. In 1894/1895 he attended Anton Brenek's sculpture school, and from 1897 to 1906 he studied painting at the Vienna Academy under Christian Griepenkerl and Alois Delug, and from 1892 onward in William Unger's etching class. His exhibitions included the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1910 and the International Art Exhibition in Rome in 1911. He also exhibited in groups at the Heller Art Salon in 1910 and at Halm & Goldmann in 1917, both in Vienna. He was first represented in the Hagenbund in 1904 and was a member from 1907 to 1909. He was also a member of the Albrecht Dürer Society in Vienna and the Vienna Künstlerhaus. His works are held in collections such as the Albertina, the Vienna Museum, and the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings). Honors and awards included an Imperial Subsidy and a Rome Scholarship (Academy) in 1906. 1925 Silver Medal of the Albrecht Dürer Association.
