Great imperial interior painting depicts one of Salons of Vienna imperial residence Hofburg , probably the great Salon of empress Elisabeth or Boucher-Room/Red Salon of Alexander-Appartments. The painting by the same artist with the title ”Boucher-Appartement in Hofburg" was sold in Dorotheum on 11.02.1929.
The author of this painting is Austrian painter Josef Pögl (1867 St.Peter bei Graz-1956 Vienna), he studied at the Staatsgewerbeschule and Art School (both in Graz) and then at the Fine Art Academy in Vienna. Active in Vienna in 1900-1924. Member of Austrian Art Union (Künstlerbund) and exhibited on 11 Annual exhibitions this Union and a painting with the title ”Boucher-Appartement in Hofburg" was sold in Dorotheum on 11.02.1929.
