Extremely rare view of the Habsburg Castle in the Sqitzerland, original seat of the House of Habsburg.
This is medical Swiss fortress located in what is now Habsburg, Switzerland, in the canton of Aargau, near the Aar River. At the time of its construction, the location was part of the Duchy of Swabia. Habsburg Castle is the original seat of the House of Habsburg, which became one of the leading imperial and royal dynasties in Europe. It is listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
The author of this painting is Austrian painter, sculptor and storyteller Josef Langl (1843 in Dobrzan - 1916 in Vienna) was an Austrian painter, sculptor, and storyteller.
Langl grew up in Vienna from 1855 onwards, where he began studying architecture and architectural painting in 1858. Between 1870 and 1892, Langl worked as an art teacher and then held the position of inspector for art instruction in Vienna and Lower Austria until 1915.
Langl's paintings include numerous views and landscapes around Europe and Orient as well as panoramas of Vienna and Dobrzan. The school and government councilor created book illustrations and designed lithographic templates for the decoration of schools throughout Austria-Hungary. Langl also worked for the "Zeitschrift für bildende Kunst" and "Die Waage." For his services, the City of Vienna awarded him honorary citizenship.
