Genre painting ”Candlemas - Hutsuls on their way to the celebrations” by very important Polish painter of Armenian origin draftsman and printmaker Teodor Axentowicz (1859 in Kronstadt, Transylvania, Austrian Empire - 1938 Kraków).
From 1879 to 1882, Axentowicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and subsequently, from 1882 to 1895, under Emile Auguste Carolus-Duran in Paris. In 1894, he collaborated with Wojciech Kossak and Jan Styka on the realization of the Panorama of Racławice. Axentowicz moved to Kraków in 1895 and became a professor at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, serving as its rector from 1910 to 1934.
