Moonrize over the village, this painting was executed in the late 19th century by listed French landscape and portrait painter Paul ( Joseph Paul) Meslé ( 1855 St-Servan ( Ile-et-Vilaine) - 1929 La Ferté-sur-Jouarre (Seine-et-Marne). He was pupil of L.Bonnat.
Our work was exhibited in the famous Galleries George's Petit, Paris, which was leading gallery from those time for French Impressionists.
In Museum Fabre, Montpellier is his similar painting ”Moonrize”.

Inscription: signed and illegibly dated and inscribed lower right; on the back of original stretcher is antique exhibition label of the Galleries Georg Petit, Paris, where works by Meslé were exhibited.

Condition: good, canvas was professionally cleaned, slightly cracked. |
