Stormy seascape with boats was executed by Dutch marine painter and etcher Willem Gruyter the Younger (1817 Amsterdam - 1880 Amsterdam).
Willem Gruyter the Younger was the son of the art dealer Willem Gruyter the Elder (1763–1832) and the father of the marine painter Jacob Willem Gruyter (1856–1908).
He was a pupil of Hermanus Koekkoek the Elder.
He became a member of "Arti et Amicitiae" in 1853. since 1863 exhibited in Bremen, Berlin, Vienna, Munich.
