Genre scene in a Dutch inn by Hendricus Johannes Scheeres ( 1829 The Hague - 1864 The Hague). He was a Dutch genre painter and lithographer.
At the age of eleven, Hendricus Johannes Scheeres became a pupil of Hubertus van Hove Bzn. Nothing is known about his further artistic training.
In 1849, he participated in his first art exhibition. He began working as a freelance genre painter at a very early age. He painted scenes from life in the Netherlands during the 17th century.

Technique: oil on wood. Original gilt frame of 19th century.
