Monumental classical marine painting with Dutch fishing boats in the stormy sea. It was executed by German marine painter Johann Baptist Weiss (1812 Munich - 1879). He was famous German marine painter of the Munich School. He worked primarily in Munich and in Holland and is known for his dramatic maritime scenes, often featuring sailing ships on rough seas. Weiss's works have been traded internationally at auctions and are found in private collections around Europe.

Technique: oil on canvas, magificent original period gilt frame.
