Masterfully miniature  drawing was executed in the late 18th century/early 19th century  by an Austrian or German painter. It depicts subject from the Greek Mythology, allegory of the transience of  time: God Chronos  carves the word Lesio or Lesione  in the tombstone. The word Lesione (Italian for injury or harm) on the Tablet could refer to the effects of time or fate, which leave both positive and negative traces.

Inscription: unsigned.

Technique: one-coloured watercolour (grisaille) on paper, matted and framed.

Measurements : only image w 2 1/2" x h 4" (6,3 x 10 cm), matted and framed 5 3/4" x 7" (14,5 x 17,7 cm).

Condition: very good.
