Portrait lithograph of Archduke Carl of Austria (1771-1847),Duke of Teschen  by one of the most famous Austrian portrait painter and lithographer Josef Kriehuber (1800-1876). 
Archduke Carl of Austria (1771-1847), the younger brother of Emperor Franz II (I), is considered one of Napoleon Bonaparte's most important strategic opponents on the Austrian side, best known for his victory at Aspern in 1809.

Literature:  Selma Krasa ”Jisef Kriehuber. The portraite painter of the epoch” (in German), 1987.

Inscription: signed in stone on the left under image ; on the right under image: ”Gedruckt bei Joh.Hofeich" (published by Joh.Hofelich); in the middle under image titled in German: Carl, Erzherzog von Österreich and in the middle on the edge : Eigentum und Verlag von Pieteo Mechetti gm Carlo, Kais.König.Hof-Kunst und Musikalienhandlung (Propaerty and publisher Pietro Mechetti gm.Carlo, Royal Court Artdealer.”

Technique:  lithograph on paper, original period gilt frame.

Measurements: unframed 13 1/4" x 15 1/2" (33,5 x 39,5 cm), framed 14 5/8" x 17 1/4"(37 x 44 cm).
