Portrait miniature of a young lady in white dress and blue shawl was executed in the early 19th century by important German miniature painter and etcher Heinrich Franz Schalck (Schalk) (1791 Mainz - 1832 Karlsruhe). His portraits are in the City painting gallery of Mainz.

Provenance: Austrian private collection.

Inscription: signed lower on the right edge.

Technique: gouache on ivory, original period bronze frame.

Measurements: unframed 2 1/8" x 2 5/8" (5,5 x 6,7 cm), framed 2 3/8" x 2 7/8"(5,9 x 7,2 cm).
